Southampton Special Purpose Workshop

We are open Monday to Friday from about 10 o'clock until about 3 o'clock. Although these times will vary depending on service user needs, trips and staffing at the workshop. please phone before making a special journey.
S.S.P.W. shop was formed in 1997 as another training facility for our service users. After selling our products on the market in Southampton this proved a success with service users, but very cold throughout the winter. So decided we needed a shop for warmth. After looking for premises for several months we opened in Woolston’s Obelisk Rd area, we stayed here for about a year and this proved to be a success with the service users but sales where very slow. So moved to our current premises in Bridge Rd. Sales are still slow but many service users enjoy working in the shop. All service users are given the opportunity to help in the shop, money skills are taught, use of the price ticket gun, The bagging of pet foods, Computer work, use of the Till and going out to help buy the stock at local wholesalers, also the taking of orders and dealing with customers is encouraged. Any profits generated from shop sales go into the recreational fund to help subsidise trips.

We also stock a variety of pet foods and products:- Wild bird seed, Peanuts, Cockatiel seed, Budgie seed, Fish foods, Dog chews and toys, Sand sheets, Millet sprays, Also available are a selection of videos books and Bric-a-Brac.
